the mind

Our mind is a wonderful instrument, but we take it  too much for granted. No one takes much care about its nutrition, hygiene, or even proper growth charting. Strange, because, it is the mind which actually moves about as an entity, carrying the body along with it.We measure small portions of it, as memory, learning capabilities in school, retention of coordinating power of muscles, but few of us really take a look at the bigger picture.
I wonder why? Are we afraid deep down to face the awsome intangible creature inside the puny body? The body is much more easier to grasp and control by mortal average intelligence. Consequently, little is done to make a little mind grow up properly. We feed the body, you know, helping it to grow taller , stronger, even better performer in various fields, but do we ever consciously feed the mind with healthy food?
How many parents actively teach a tddler to sit and concentrate beside learning alphabets and rhymes? Do teachers advice parents to make their children sit quietly for few minutes with them and talk about their feelings about the various events of the day? Do the grownups discuss the mental reactions of a child to various happenings in their life?
We hardly ever take time for that. It is always," run honey, we'll be late for school ; don't talk now your homework is waiting, ok , let me come back from office we'll talk at night, and then, oh, baby, go to sleep now, we'll be late for the event, can't you see.."We think a kiss a hug will be enough to build a growing mind along with the fresh food and vitamins.
But it is never enough. The  child's mind needs answers abut other people's behaviour and a guideline to deal with them, they need ways to learn the ethical and rational points of view, they need answers about the different reactions of their growing bodies.Poor kids, they are left alone to face the media, the frightening adult world and their own growing physique all alone. Isn't it high time for parents to awake up and sit to gather to teach peace and strength to the young minds?
